Step 5: CONNECTION WHEN WE ARE IN CONSTRICTION?

Updated: May 21, 2022

From January to February I was not in good shape... I am rarely sick and I cure myself mainly with aromatherapy, naturopathy, ayurveda, homeopathy and energy medicine. When this usually solid body of mine is lacking energy and health, I do my best to welcome this unpleasant moment and generally it doesn’t last long. But this time, a first 12 days of antibiotics was not enough, and a week later I was due for another 10 days.

Are we less happy when we are sick… or rather can we remain perfectly happy?

The beauty of my environment has not changed, neither has the sweetness of my “Om̐ sweet Om̐”… yet it was more difficult for me to connect to it, to absorb it. I looked at this semi-impermeability with benevolence but also some contraction, constriction and opposition. Until I had a surge of common sense and said YES, a big YES. YES to the sickness. YES to life. I felt woozy, I had little energy, I dragged myself slowly and it was OK. With this mindset, I didn't feel like I was expanding, but I was able to feel both at the same time. Expansion and contraction. Vitality (I was not on the verge of death all the same) and fatigue. Desire to move forward, to put myself into action and inability to do anything but stay still.

The Sages (and even the personal development gurus) are right to say that all suffering comes from the non-acceptance of what is. Relax with what is externally, internally, physically, psychically, emotionally. Accept that the ebb and flow are not of the same amplitude. Unlike the sea, sometimes the inner tide can be low for a month (and much longer). Yesterday, in Ambatozavavy the tide was high from 8:35 a.m. to 2:46 p.m. and from 8:55 p.m. to 2:58 a.m. Seen from my terrace the ocean at high tide is magnificent. But when it is low the Sacred Rock is accessible on foot and you can pickup seashells and delicious seaweed...

So, what do you think: Can we remain perfectly happy when we are sick?
